Garden Clean-Up

Greetings Gardeners,

It’s that time again.  Tomorrow, Sunday, November 13th at 9:00 am we will take down the fences, roll up the hoses and put the gardens to bed. The forecast looks reasonably warm. As you prepare your plot for next season, please remember that all debris should be deposited in the upper garden compost pile.

If you can’t make tomorrow, but have time this afternoon, please feel free to get started.  The zip ties can be cut and the fence stakes can be pulled.

Please bring your work gloves and your 2017 garden payment: $40/full plot, $20/half – checks payable to Kathy Tefft.

See you tomorrow in the garden.

Groundhog Warning

This afternoon, en route to weeding and watering, a gardener surprised a woodchuck in the lower garden. It is not clear where it had come through the fence, but everyone should check the portion of fence adjacent to their plot and make sure that it is as tightly staked as possible. We recommend that the same be done in the upper garden. Although we have not yet had any reports of critter sightings there, some young broccoli heads show signs of nibbling.

Also, please do not dump garden waste down by the lower garden because there is no easy way to retrieve it from there at this time of year.

The gardens are looking lush and wonderful and represent an impressive amount of work. Bravo to all!

2016 Fences Are Up

We had a great turn-out this morning with about 20 gardeners.  We put up the fences around the garden in an hour and a half.  Thanks to William for setting everything up, and to Viva for the scones. Thanks also to William for refinishing the benches.

Thanks to Hill Carter for the photos.
