It’s that time again. We will gather at the garden on Saturday, May 2 at 10 am, install the deer fencing, clean up the grounds a bit (in keeping with Green Up Day) and share snacks.
Please bring your work gloves and your ideas for the new season. If you haven’t had a chance to pay your garden fee, please bring your check made out to Kathy Tefft (Hanover Community Gardens). The full plot fee is $40 and the half is $20.
A record group of gardeners turned up to take down the fence, and we completed it in a record amount of time of 45 minutes. Thanks to Kathy, Sue and William for overseeing the garden through another successful season.

Longacre’s Nursery
Longacre’s Nursery is located at 220 Mechanic Street, Lebanon, NH. There is still time to clear the decks of all those surplus pots and trays. All types of plastic plant pots accepted, including the flimsy multipacks. Volunteers and friends of Sustainable Hanover/Longacre’s will be on hand to accept this useful plastic.
Help us keep this resource out of the waste stream.
Sustainable Hanover volunteers and friends will be collecting Plastic Plant Pots of all kinds (including trays and flimsy multipacks) on Saturday, July 19 from 9-noon at Longacre’s Nursery in Lebanon, NH. Two more collections are planned for the 3rd Saturday of August and September.
Tap your pots free of dirt and help us keep this usable plastic out of the waste stream. Huge quantities have been collected over the last few years creating more space for other stuff in your garage/shed or barn. Keep it coming!
Hopefully this isn’t going to be a repeat of the late blight disaster of 2009. If you can’t remember what the symptoms of late blight look like, please go to the Cornell website for tomato/potato diseases or just google late blight.

If you suspect any of your plants of having this fungus you can ask either Kathy, William, or Susan to have a look. Copper based fungicides are supposed to work to keep it at bay.
